I want to create a topic about this.

We know there are people like Klonoa on the Phantomile espically on Breezegale. Noticable ones are grandpa, balue, the ones we rescue, and ones that found on the concept arts.

Let's talk about them and list the known ones and their similiarities.

I only know Grandpa and the random breezegale residents oh and Balue and his epic porkyness xD

but I noticed on the wii make Klonoa door to Phantomile Mirror Spirits sort of adopt that ear styling that Klonoa has as well.

Mirror Spirit They have the similar ear shape but that is about all that is similar.

The villages/cities/whathaveyou in Phantomile seem to have large populations of one species and variations of said species. Breezegale appears to be a village consisting largely of cats like Klonoa, and that's why the villagers and Balue look similar to him, they're just different breeds of cat, and Grandpa is the same breed but with a greying coat (animals do get grey fur just as we get grey hairs, but most don't live long enough for us to see it. However since they're anthropomorphic animals we can assume they have human life spans and then it would be very likely that Grandpa's coat used to be black and white like Klonoa's and then greyed over time.)

And perhaps the Mirror Spirit is a cat spirit, similarly to what Tat is? So perhaps they're like benevolent spirits of villagers of the past? To help along the living villagers? A little dark, but a lot of video games try to concoct some sort of reference to an after life...

Hmm I don't think they are cats but I agree with the graying of fur thing. Mirror spirits is another possible theory.
ps1 Mirrior spirits looks pretty different though so it's confusing for me.
I've heard them called cabbits and then just fantasy species so @_@ not really sure.

The only reason I call them cats is because of a quote from the Wiki:

"There is much speculation as to what Klonoa actually is, though he most closely resembles a rabbit, cat or dog. The latter is probably the most fitting description, as Namco has stated in various interviews that though he is primarily a fantasy character, they mostly consider him a cat with long ears."

Since his proposed redesign for the Wiimake had him with catlike ears, I mostly envision that the residents of Breezegale have cat ears, but grow out the fur on them, similarly to the Caracal species, but to an extreme:



which makes sense to me seeing as Balue has the ends of his ears tied, it would make more sense if it was just extra fur


EDIT: Similarly, I think this because of a piece of animation in DTP:



Showing that there is some kind of disconnection half way through the ear, most likely where the tip of the ear ends, and the extra fur begins, as I've pathetically attempted to illustrate
