I would love to help contribute what I can. What exactly do you need?

And do I need to ask them permission if the game's free? I'm not planning to make money off of this at all. Unless they're over-reactive like Hasbro then I can't see why I'd need to ask.

The advantage of using it would that your game can be open source which makes things like fixing bugs and adding features much easier. Also I don't think Mugen supports linux. You don't want what happened to Fighting is Magic http://www.giantbomb.com/forums/general-discussion-30/mlp-fighting-is-magic-team-receive-a-cd-from-hasbr-578108/
It has a one click deploy feature so It can easily port games to PC,MAC,Linux,Android,BlackBerry and HTML5.I would recommend making the game in HTML5 and port it to Firefox OS that way it will run in everything that supports HTML5 kinda like this game https://marketplace.firefox.com/app/amor-de-panda?src=search
I'm still confused about the problem of the language, do you have it on English now or are you still using it on Portuguese? If you could give me one screenshot of your program it would make things clear to me.I know that we do have a member from Brazil here in the forums but he is not very active here, I don't know if he would want to help you a little.
