Immediate thoughts were:

- Needs some shading, especially around the midsection which looks incomplete without it.

- The antennae ... thing is looks too thick. Might benefit from some highlights.

- Try outlining in a color that's not black.

The actual posing doesn't look bad, though.

For the sake of the theme of this forum:

They look odd in a FFIV-VI style.

Immediate thoughts were:

- Needs some shading, especially around the midsection which looks incomplete without it.

- The antennae ... thing is looks too thick. Might benefit from some highlights.

- Try outlining in a color that's not black.

The actual posing doesn't look bad, though.

Look at Mog here:

As they are not the same types of Moogles, the pom-pom on his head (Antenna)  is supposed to be really thick looking as homage to that Mog. I agree on the shading though.

The classic FF games uses black for an outline. Sorry.

Thanks, everyone. Sorry if they're not in your standards of a good sprite. But hey, now we know what Klonoa might look like in FFVI form.

About the shading though. If you look closely, there is some shading going on. Probably need to make them darker.

Yes. Go with darker.

To take a closer look at what was happening I took a crack at Popka based on the Moogle Sprite with a 20 minute limit. It's been years since I've sprited anything.

There were some spots where the outline was definitely too thick. I culled some bits back, especially at the corners.

I darkened the shadow color and added another " mid " color for the fur and bandanna to give it some depth.

Outlined the feet and the bandanna with black to match up with the Moogle Sprite.

Fixed the nose since it was bothering me.

Woud've fixed the ears if I had more time. Not happy with them.

Wasn't sure what was going on with his left arm so I redrew it. In retrospect, it should probably be raised and pointed forward.

Made the pink sections darker and gave a shadow to his eyes to give them some depth.

For the Moogle Sprite I noticed that it was outlined black around the exterior, but the interior used it more sparingly mostly to define the features of the body. For the first set maybe less black on the interior and more darker colors to define those shapes.

I had a good laugh with my silly mistake of not including the nose and snout.

But if you want further reference, all of the sprites you see in the classic Final Fantasy games FFIV to FFV is thanks to this who did this artwork: http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/f/f6/Cannoneer_FFV.png/revision/latest?cb=20120718051013

Popka was in the standing posiiton of these guys. I like how you gave more detail into his hands though.

Did another take of Kloey before I go. Still not a big fan of it, but meh. At least he's not angry anymore.

I must have used the wrong sprite sheet as a reference.

I also did long-ears, but mine came out much smaller for some reason.

I drew the new sprite using this sheet as a visual reference and Klonoa's Namco x Capcom sprites for colors and posing. When he's facing left the symbol on his hat isn't visible. *nod-nod*

I actually like your second take. He looks adorable.

You're really good at spriting, Mobo. Before you stopped, how long have you been spriting?

About 9 years. I started in 2003 and stopped in 2011-ish.

For the sake of comparison here's some of my early stuff including my very first spritesheet.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I dislike showing my old stuff.  :embarassed:
